QIB opens new branch at Mall of Qatar

Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB), Qatar’s leading Islamic Bank, announced the opening of a new branch at the Mall of Qatar. The new branch will have extended working hours throughout the week and will operate from Saturday to Thursday from 9:00 am to 2:30 pm, and from 3:30 to 9:00 pm while the branch will open also on Friday from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

QIB’s management has been strategically implementing an expansion plan that is placing the customer-centric Bank at the heart of Qatar’s most thriving communities. The Mall of Qatar has become a landmark in the country, and within a short time of its inception, it has attracted retail lovers from across Qatar. The innovative shopping destination was a natural choice for QIB that is continuously looking to be closer to its customers.

QIB’s expansion plan has been focusing on being present at key landmarks within the country. 2017 saw the Islamic Bank opening a new branch at the Ministry of Endowment and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) Tower in West Bay and relocating its Al Gharrafa branch to Q-mall, another addition to Qatar’s growing retail scene.

“The Mall of Qatar has become a key shopping destination visited by customers from across Qatar,” said D. Anand, General Manager of QIB’s Personal Banking Group. “For this reason, we had to make sure that we were present to serve our customers at one of the largest mall in Qatar and meet the growing demand for tailor-made Islamic banking services. We will continue to expand our footprint in the country and contribute to Qatar’s thriving economic scene.”

An innovative “Bank & Shop” service to complement financial offerings

Fusing between its customer-centric approach and its technologically progressive strategies, QIB developed a new service called the Bank and Shop service. The new SMS notification service informs customers when their turn arrives. With the new feature, customers don’t need to wait at the branch until they get served, instead, they will receive their waiting ticket by SMS and can enjoy their time at Mall of Qatar until another SMS informs them that it is their turn to be served. The new service has been unveiled across all QIB Mall branches including Q-Mall, City Center, Dar Al Salam and The Gate Mall.

In keeping with the Bank’s commitment to offer tailor-made financial experience, the branch will also offer customers a full range of premium QIB products and services to meet both every day and specialized finance needs. The full-service nature of the new branch complements the Bank’s extensive investment into expanding both its physical branches and its digital offerings in order to meet the varying demands of its growing customer base.

The opening take QIB’s branch network to 29, with 12 dedicated ladies centers, 9 Tamayuz (Affluent) centers and 2 private banking lounges. In addition to its local expansion, QIB has strong presence in the United Kingdom through its fully owned subsidiary QIB-UK which focuses on serving the customers who have interest in investing in UK and supporting the investment and trade flows between Qatar and the UK. Through its High Net Worth relationship management team, and with the support of product specialists in real estate finance, trade finance, and treasury, QIB-UK strives to deliver service excellence and tailor-made solutions in a Shari’a-compliant manner to its customers.

The Mall of Qatar branch incorporates the new design’s philosophy that QIB has been implementing in its key branches. The design melds together a palette of natural tones for a modern interpretation of the traditional Islamic values of purity, simplicity and transparency. The branch will also incorporate ATM and Cash Deposit machine that can be used for withdrawing or depositing cash and other services on 24/7 basis. These services will complement the Bank’s current offerings of an innovative online banking system, a sophisticated mobile banking application, SMS banking functionality, and an award-winning 24/7 customer service call center.
