QIB to Sponsor Euromoney Qatar Conference 2013 in December

Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB) - the leading Islamic Bank in Qatar - will be the co-sponsor of The Euromoney Qatar Conference, due to be held in Doha on 10-11 December 2013.

Being held under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani - Qatar’s Prime Minister, and attended by H.E Ali Sherif Al Emadi - Minister of Finance and Sheikh Abdullah bin Saud Al Thani - Governor - Qatar Central Bank, the conference, which is the second in the series entitled Global Finance Re-engineered, will focus on financing stable and equitable growth, together with the new role of conventional and Islamic financing and capital markets. Many of the world's leading professionals and thinkers in finance, with a cross section of Qatar's financiers and policy-makers are expected to attend.

In 2012, Euromoney brought together over 600 people from 30 countries for the first in this series of live debates on the remaking of international finance.

For QIB, the co-sponsorship of the event comes as part of the Bank’s vision to contribute to the rising status of Qatar as a financial hub and an important participant in the new global financial system. Euromoney Qatar Conference 2013 will take place at a crucial stage in the on-going success story of Qatar, as the country embarks on a new wave of enhancements to support its plans for economic development.

Mr. Bassel Gamal, QIB’s Group Chief Executive Officer said, “As the Islamic bank of choice in Qatar, we are truly pleased to sponsor this bespoke gathering of financiers in Doha for the second year running. The Euromoney Qatar Conference has already reinforced Qatar’s contribution to the development of a stable, sustainable and responsible global financial system.”

“We hope that the second edition of this prestigious Conference serves as a springboard of an innovative economic development strategy, and how the financial and private sector in Qatar in particular can play a significant role in shaping it,” added Mr. Gamal.

In addition to co-sponsoring, senior officials from QIB will contribute to the dialogue at the Conference and will participate in a panel on “Qatar Banking Review – What’s Next” on 11 December and discuss the evolution of Qatari banking system.
