08/07/2014, Doha, Qatar

Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB), Qatar’s leading Islamic bank, held its annual Ramadan gathering for employees at the Four Seasons Hotel. In attendance was a large number of employees, including QIB Group CEO Bassel Gamal and General Managers, as well as several guests of honor such as Sheikh Suleiman Al – Jbeilan and Dr. Khalid Al – Khanji, Vice President of Student Affairs at the Hamad Bin Khalifa University.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Gamal indicated that the Ramadan gathering had become an annual tradition that testifies to the ideals of communication and collaboration amongst all QIB employees. Touching upon QIB’s journey, he affirmed that change had brought about positive results that employee efforts helped translate into improved performance, and called upon everyone to double their efforts to help maintain QIB’s leading status.

He added that QIB’s top priority is to develop and improve its IT systems to stay abreast of future growth and needs, in reference to the launching of the strategic transformation program (iCan) which QIB undertook late last year, and the first step of which is expected to be completed by late 2015. He also highlighted the significance of continued investments in branch development with the goal of providing an improved and advanced banking environment for customers as well as an appropriate work environment for employees.

Mr. Gamal also recalled QIB’s improved financial performance, casting light on the growth registered by the Bank in the first quarter of 2014, which manifested itself in the improved financing portfolio as well as the growth in assets, deposits, and benefits. He also stated that foreign QIB subsidiaries are taking solid steps towards growth thanks to concerted efforts aimed at promoting their performance.

Mr. Gamal was followed by Dr. Khalid Al – Khanji, Vice President of Student Affairs at the Hamad Bin Khalifa University, who maintained that motivation and innovation are vital to provide excellent banking services to customers. Dr. Al – Khanji referenced his personal experience as a loyal QIB customer for 24 years, highlighting the significance of first impressions left by employees on customers as a great means to remain one step ahead of the competition in the banking sector.

The last guest to take the floor was Sheikh Suleiman Al Jbeilan, who cast light on the importance of upholding Islamic values – such as giving, resorting to one’s intellect, and making the effort – at the workplace to help solidify QIB’s position. The aforementioned values, he maintained, go hand-in-hand with honesty, dedication, responsibility, and loyalty. Sheikh Al – Jbeilan also called upon QIB employees to be perseverant, innovative, and creative, and to continue to assume their professional responsibilities favorably in dealing with customers, highlighting the meaningfulness of honest, hard work in helping meet QIB’s objectives of providing excellent services to its customers and posting results that are commensurate with the ambitions of its shareholders, investors, and customers alike.
