QIB to Hold Blood Donation Day on Tuesday 13th May

Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB) – Qatar’s leading Islamic bank – is planning to hold a blood donation day in association with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) on Tuesday 13th May at QIB’s Head office in Grand Hamad Street between 9:00 am and 12:30 pm, giving both QIB customers and employees the opportunity to donate blood.
The blood donation campaign is an integral part of the Bank’s corporate social responsibility programme, and aims to support the blood banks and blood requirements of local hospitals. Each year, QIB makes a conscious effort to host such a day, and has received a great response every time.
QIB’s responsibility to the community has always been at the forefront of its obligations and is a central pillar of the Bank’s values. It has continuously committed itself to a series of corporate social responsibility programmes in the community, including educational, health, and general social programmes.
It is worth mentioning that donating blood has several health benefits, including: rejuvenating the donor’s bone marrow, thus prompting the production of new blood cells and revitalizing pulmonary circulation. Also it helps curing certain ailments such as the abnormal increase in red blood cell count and iron levels as well as any relevant complications. Additionally blood donation also gives donors the opportunity to make sure they are disease-free, reduces the danger of pulmonary circulation disorders and leukemia, and helps decrease the level of iron in the bloodstream and the relevant risk of cardiovascular disease.
It has been medically proven that donating blood revitalizes bone marrow that is responsible for blood cell production; for while human blood regenerates every 120 days, blood donors allow their blood to regenerate in 20 days, thus accelerating the regeneration rate six fold. Additionally, new blood cells are more active in terms of transferring oxygen to various organs, thus promoting one’s level of energy. It feels as if God grants donors fresh blood that is better than the blood they donate. And lastly, donating blood provides a sense of relief, as it is viewed as a greatly rewarding selfless act.
