Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB), Qatar’s leading Islamic Bank, hosted a group of students from Rawdat Rashid Independent Secondary Boys School at its Al Rayyan Branch premises. The school visit aimed to educate the students on the important role of banks in the daily life of individuals and businesses as well as for the country’s economic development and growth
The students toured the branch and visited its Affluent Banking (Tamayuz) centre to get a first-hand experience and understanding of the numerous operations taking place at different sections of the branch to provide the required financial services to all the people and companies that live and operate in the State of Qatar.
Senior bank representatives briefed the students on the vast spectrum of products and services offered by banks in general and QIB in particular to improve the quality of life of citizens and residents, and fuel economic growth. Examples of how the Bank is supporting building Qatar’s infrastructure as well as the government’s objectives for the economy’s diversification and the development of a strong private sector in accordance to the National Vision 2030 have been discussed.
Students have expressed an interest to know more about the specific nature and mechanism of Islamic Banking with the Bank representatives explaining the basic principles of Shari’a-compliant (Islamic) banking.
The group of students had the opportunity to learn more about QIB’s specific products and services and where informed on how investments in technology make it possible to offer the bank’s services anytime and through different channels such as ATMs, QIB’s mobile banking application and the Bank’s Call Center.
The visit concluded with a series of observations by the students regarding banking transactions, Islamic finance and products offered by the Bank as well as questions about employment opportunities for Qatari youths in the banking sector. QIB representatives answered all the questions and emphasized the positive role that banks play as businesses in their own right through job creation, financial education and continued innovation.
School teachers and students commended the visit and expressed their thanks and appreciation to QIB for giving them the opportunity to take a closer look at banking and to understand the broader role of the financial sector in supporting and stimulating economic and social progress.
The visit has been organized as part of QIB’s social responsibility role whereas the Bank is engaging in the local community and collaborating with society’s institutions to support different activities. QIB is committed to supporting the educational sector in particular, a dedication originating from the belief in the importance and impact of education on the life and prosperity of future generations.
