Wages Protection System (WPS) is an electronic salary transfer system that allows institutions to pay workers’ wages via banks approved and authorized to provide the service. The system, developed by Qatar Central Bank, allows the Ministry of Labor to create a database that records wage payments in the private sector to guarantee the timely and full payment of agreed‑upon wages. The WPS covers all institutions registered with the Ministry across all sectors and industries and benefits different categories of labor.     • Trade license
    • Commercial registration
    • Establishment identity documents “computer ID”
    • QID copy of the authorized signatory.

Employee:

  • QID or passport (for expats)
  • Valid sponsorship from the employer
  • Active mobile number

Ways to use the WPS portal
Open your employee’s WPS account effortlessly:
  • Employer submission
    Update_Employee_Info -WPS

    Employer uploads employee’s QID (front and back) and passport information page and submits application form with the employee’s QID and mobile number.

  • Data verification

    All details and documents are verified for authenticity. If the employee meets the eligibility criteria, an SMS is sent to them.

  • Employee notification

    The employee receives an SMS with application reference number and instructions to continue the process via the QIB Lite app.

The Wages Protection System (WPS) is Qatar's electronic salary transfer system used to pay worker wages through approved banks. Developed by Qatar Central Bank, WPS creates a comprehensive database that tracks all private sector wage payments, ensuring employees receive agreed-upon salaries in full and on time.

WPS serves three key parties:

  • Workers: Individuals employed in Qatar's private sector who hold Ministry-issued labour cards and receive agreed-upon wages.
  • Employers: Companies or institutions registered with the Ministry of Labour that employ workers for agreed-upon compensation
  • Banks: Approved financial institutions that process WPS wage transfers from employer accounts to worker accounts

There are no fees for the WPS service.
