FAQs

QIB’s Carbon Emission Tracker helps you see how your daily spending impacts the environment.

A carbon footprint is the total amount of greenhouse gases, especially carbon dioxide (CO₂), that are released into the atmosphere due to our daily activities.

These gases are responsible for global warming and climate change.

Our partner Ecolytiq helps estimate your carbon footprint using your spending data.

We match your purchases to categories and assign an estimated CO₂ value based on trusted research.

These are general estimates, so we may ask optional questions to improve accuracy. The more you share, the better we can help you reduce your impact.

Currently, our focus is on assessing CO₂e impact at the category level rather than individual merchants, due to limitations in data availability and inconsistent data standards. However, improving the accuracy of CO₂e assessments for individual retailers remains an ongoing priority.

We estimate the CO₂ footprint for most of your transactions based on their spending category - such as, food, travel, or shopping. These categories come directly from the card network, and each one has an average CO₂ value linked to it.

This helps us provide a general estimate of your carbon impact for each purchase, though it may not reflect the exact products or services you bought.

You can find it right in the app, along with easy, practical tips to help you with reducing carbon emissions and make more sustainable choices in your everyday life.
